Affordable Internet for Low-Income Households

Affordable Connectivity Program

While much of the world is connected to the internet for work, streaming, gaming, dating, and everything in between, about 1 in 4 households in rural areas in the United States don't have access to high-speed broadband. Luminate has set up reliable fiber networks throughout Northwestern Colorado to help bring you the best internet connectivity, no matter how far out you live.

People in rural areas often think that they can’t access broadband internet because of their income. At Luminate, we believe all people should have access to lightning-fast internet; that's why we participate in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). ACP is a U.S. government program that helps low-income households pay for broadband and internet-connected devices.

Benefits of ACP

ACP gives you access to the best internet at an affordable price. Fiber broadband internet provides faster speeds than DSL or cable internet, meaning that you can download and upload data quickly, stream high-quality video without buffering, and enjoy online gaming with less lag. Fiber internet is also so reliable that you're less likely to experience slowdowns or interruptions during peak usage times or bad weather than with other service providers.

Families who are eligible for ACP gain access to all of these best-in-class fiber internet features for as low as $30 per month, plus receive a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. One monthly service discount and one device discount are available per household.

ACP also has protections in place for households in the program. A broadband account through ACP ensures that people aren't turned away because of past balances or low credit scores, and that they won't be hit with early termination fees or put on a lower-quality plan due to their financial status.

Luminate charges what we say we charge, so your bill won’t ever surprise you. But, ACP also offers peace of mind because the program has extra protections in place to ensure that low-income households aren't hit over the head with a bill they can't pay.

How to tell if You're Eligible for ACP

If you participate in other government assistance programs, you might also be eligible for ACP.

Programs such as the Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Housing Assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), WIC, Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits, Lifeline, and Federal Pell Grant all have similar income qualifications as ACP.

If you're not sure, there is a free online application or you can contact us at Luminate directly. Feel free to come down to one of our local offices anytime to find out if you are a good candidate for the ACP program.

How to Apply for ACP

Every person should have access to high-quality broadband service, regardless of their situation. Luminate and ACP make this possible in Northwestern Colorado.
